“The September 11 attacks, 9/11, were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the militant Islamist terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States of America on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. On that morning, four commercial airliners traveling from the northeastern United States to California were hijacked mid-flight by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists. Deaths: 2,996 (2,977 victims + 19 al-Qaeda terrorists). Injured: 25,000. Perpetrators: Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Al-Qaeda. It remains the deadliest terrorist attack in human history and the single deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers in the history of the United States, with 340 and 72 killed, respectively.”
“The storming of the United States Capitol (Attempts to overturn the 2020 United States presidential election, Trump’s attempted coup) was a riot and violent attack against the United States Congress on January 6, 2021, carried out by a mob of supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump in an attempt to overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. The riot led to the evacuation and lockdown of the Capitol, and five deaths. Called to action by Trump, thousands of his supporters gathered in Washington, D.C., on January 5 and 6 in support of his claim that the 2020 election had been ‘stolen’ from him. Pro-Trump extremists had posted online about their intentions to kill Mike Pence and also to Nancy Pelosi. Deaths: 5 deaths (1 from gunshot, 1 from drug overdose, 3 from natural causes). Injured: Unknown number of rioters injured, at least five rioters hospitalized. At least 138 police officers (73 Capitol Police officers, 65 Metropolitan Police Department officers), including at least 15 hospitalized. Perpetrators: Donald Trump, MAGA, Republican Party (GOP), Republican Party officials, former State Legislators and political donors, far-right militants, white supremacists, American militia movement, conservative evangelical Christians and participants of the ‘Save America’ Rally, Three Percenters, Black Hebrew Israelites, America First Movement, Stop the Steal movement, Patriot Movement, Blue Lives Matter, the Proud Boys, Tea Party movement, Oath Keepers, Traditionalist Worker Party, QAnon, Groyper Army, national-anarchism, neo-Confederates, Christian Nationalists, Holocaust deniers. While there have been other instances of violence at the Capitol in the 19th and 20th centuries, this event was the most severe assault on the building since the 1814 burning of Washington by the British Army during the War of 1812. The last attempt on the life of the Vice President was a bomb plot against Thomas Marshall in July 1915. For the first time in U.S. history, a Confederate battle flag was flown inside the Capitol. The Confederate army had never reached the Capitol, nor come closer than 6 miles (9.7 km) from the Capitol, during the American Civil War. Law professor and scholar of legal history Carlton F.W. Larson wrote that the Framers of the Constitution would have denounced the event as a treasonous act, although those who participated in the mob assault were likely shielded from a treason charge by an 1851 precedent.”
There has probably never been a U.S. president as consistently and overtly disagreeable on the public stage as Donald Trump is
