[…] The assassination threats against Barron and Melania Trump are directly related to the active war between the U.S. and Iran, specifically following the February 2026 joint U.S.-Israeli airstrike that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Following his death, the Ayatollah’s son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, vowed to exact blood revenge against Donald Trump and his immediate family. […] United States and Israel military strike that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei occurred on the morning of Saturday, February 28, 2026, as part of a major coordinated campaign dubbed “Operation Epic Fury” by the U.S. and “Roar of the Lion” by Israel. While recent highly publicized state fatwas targeting Trump and Netanyahu have originated from Iran’s Shiite clerical leadership, severe threats from the Sunni world are driven primarily by transnational jihadist organizations and militant groups. While state-level fatwas demanding their deaths predominantly come from Shia clerics in Iran, transnational Sunni jihadist networks share a deep, long-standing hostility toward both leaders. An Iranian assassination plot was recently uncovered targeting Yair Netanyahu, the 35-year-old eldest son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while he was living in Hallandale Beach near Miami, Florida, United States. This prompted an immediate, urgent evacuation back to Israel by Israeli security services. Yair Netanyahu was immediately and urgently transported from the United States to Israel. He was flown directly back to Israel, with media reports confirming his arrival and presence back in the country. While details of the operation were tightly controlled by the military censor for months, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly confirmed the plot during an interview on August 24, 2026, stating that “Iran targeted one of my sons”.
